JSOM TFS Deskside Support – Services Provided

Services Provided

  • Purchase, configuration, deployment of JSOM desktops, laptops and printers, selected by and configured by JSOM Tech Services with consultation of faculty or staff meant to use the device(s)
  • Maintenance of JSOM copiers (basic repairs, contact with vendor for advanced repairs, supplying paper and toner, and more)
  • Support of computer hardware and software according to the tables below
  • Creation and maintenance of OS images for Windows 11 PCs
  • Performing hardware upgrades or computer replacement when assigned users are eligible, upon user request or JSOM Technology Services determination that upgrades or replacement is necessary (due to software or OS falling from developer support, and more)
  • Performing automated software patching via enterprise tools such as Microsoft SCCM or PDQ Deploy for supported applications
  • Troubleshooting and resolving, when possible:
    • Hardware problems (for supported equipment)
    • Software problems (for supported software)
    • Network connectivity (via “best effort” support and, if necessary, escalation of support tickets to network team)
    • Malware, virus, and other problems identified by UTD’s Information Security Office
  • Configuring personal smartphones to connect to CometNet and/or UTD email
  • Working with vendors to resolve warranty-backed hardware issues with purchased devices, or ordering necessary replacement parts if applicable
  • Working alongside UTD’s Office of Information Technology to resolve issues related to OIT services (account management, networking, and more)
  • Along with JSOM Operations team, moving computer equipment and peripherals as part of office moves or reconfigurations

Services Not Provided

  • Support of personal devices, other than limited support of smartphones as specified above
  • Support of equipment purchased without the consultation of JSOM Tech Services, or equipment/software otherwise falling under the “No Support” categories listed in the Deskside Scope of Services article
  • Services otherwise not specified in the ‘Services Provided’ category. Staff and faculty are encouraged to contact us at JSOMTFS@utdallas.edu or at Ext. 5800 with any questions.
