Working Collaboratively – Marketing

Introduction

The good news — our design, video and marketing strategy skills come at no cost to you. However, print production, promotional items and mailing costs are your responsibility. Before you start a project — establish both an end goal and a budget.

Some important things to think through before beginning any project:

  • Goals: What do you want the result to be?
    • What would you like the project to look like?
      • Do you have visual examples you can show the marketing department?
  • Timing: When do you need the project completed to accomplish your goal?
  • Audience: Identify your target audience(s).
    • Students? Faculty? Alumni? They are all different audiences and will each need different messaging.
  • Materials: What items do you need and in what quantities?
    • Flyers, banners, web copy etc.
  • Budget: What funds do you have allocated for the project?
  • Measuring Success: What metrics and/or key performance indicators (KPIs) do you need to use to determine the effectiveness of the project?

Content Creation

When creating content for your marketing project here are some important things to think through:

  • Point of Difference: Define what sets your program or offering apart from the competitor.
  • Call to Action: What action do you want the audience to take?
  • Content: Do you have the copy and content you want to use, and has it been approved by the final decision-maker?
  • Design Elements: Do you know what photos you want to use (if applicable)?

If you are not sure where to begin or still need help with elements of your marketing project, we are here to help!
