Create Your Professional Personal Brand on Social Media

JSOM & Social Media

Social Media can be leveraged to create and elevate a professional brand. While JSOM owns and operates several social media channels under the direction of our Social Media Specialist, we encourage individual programs, centers and clubs to create their own pages under the UTD JSOM branding guidelines.

If you need assistance in creating a page or a social media consultation, please set up a meeting with the JSOM Social Media Specialist. Find your current contact on this page.

Facebook

A Facebook business page is a public social media profile designed for commercial organizations.

Like a personal Facebook account, Facebook businesses pages allow you to make connections online. Brands use their Facebook pages to promote products and services through links, status updates, photos and videos.

How JSOM Does Facebook

“Welcome to the JSOM Facebook Page. Ask questions, share stories, and engage with some of the best and brightest.”

@jindal.utdallas is the official affiliate page for all things JSOM on Facebook. We share Jindal Schools stories, alumni highlights, photos and videos all with the goal of sharing the Jindal School story. According to 2023 Meta Data, the average Facebook user is 40.5 years old, so we seek to share content that will appeal to that demographic.

Setting Up Your Facebook Business Page

To create a JSOM related page, you need a profile. Information from your personal Facebook profile will not appear on your Facebook Page unless you share it there. Your profile and Page are considered separate on Facebook.

  • Category: Select a category for your Page. The category you choose will provide unique features for your business.
  • Information about your business: To get the most out of your Page, add details about your company or organization, like address, areas serviced, email, phone number, website, hours, story, images and more. Have this information ready to go when you create your Page.
  • Goals you would like to achieve: When you create a Page, have a clear set of goals for what you want to achieve. Make sure you are taking advantage of your Page’s unique features.
  • Insights: Page Insights can help you understand your audience better and the content they interact with most. Pay close attention to insights, such as Page likes, views, reach and information about demographics. Learn more about how to leverage insights.
  • Stay active: Typically, Facebook Pages perform best when you interact with your Page fans, post often, include contact details and other information and use Page Insights.

Engaging in Conversations

An essential component of growing a social media following is engagement or engaging in conversations. Companies and organizations build stronger connections with their consumer bases by commenting on posts or “liking,” statuses.

YouTube

While Instagram Reels prioritizes short-form video content (videos in less than 90 seconds), YouTube is a platform that prioritizes long-form video content.

Please contact the Social Media Specialist to upload your long-form content to the Jindal School’s YouTube Channel. Find your current contact on this page.

Remember the goal of social media is to build an online community that actively shares the story of the Jindal School, your program, center or organization.
